Fall Flares

It seems like every few years, fashion remembers how amazing flares are, and the silhouette is suddenly everywhere again! I’ve had this pair in my closet for ages (more under $20 here, distressed version here, and in black here) and I’m so excited to pair them with silk blouses, basic tees, and oversize cardigans this fall. Since the trend can easily go from 70’s inspired to costume territory, I’ve researched some of the most helpful tips for keeping the look contemporary and chic.

Pair your flares with the right shoes. Delicate and dainty heels can get lost underneath a voluminous cut; an ankle boot or chunky heel (love this classic black pair) works best! If you’re a flats kind of gal, make sure to crop your flares to the appropriate length.

Keep it polished! Tucking in your shirt adds easy glamour to an otherwise casual look.

Introduce a modern element, like these earring jackets, to give your outfit a distinctly current twist.

delicate necklace

Simple is best. Delicate pieces of jewelry like this key necklace (also love this rose gold option) compliment bold flares instead of competing for attention like a statement piece might.

Play with volume. A floaty blouse, oversize sweater, or longline trench coat all enhance the fluid silhouette flares offer.
