Our nightstands are the last thing we see before we drift off, and the first thing we open our eyes to in the morning (aside from our cell phones – so guilty of this one!). Their close and constant proximity makes them the perfect spot to inject personal style and create a streamlined zone for all of those AM/PM essentials . A well-designed bedside table (I scored mine at HomeSense!) makes for a smoother, more stylish way to start and end your day, and is easy to achieve with 6 key pieces.
Light – Lighting sets in the mood in your space, so a soft and warm lamplight will do wonders for making your bed extra inviting. A candle in your favourite scent is another great way to add atmosphere and create a calm bedtime vibe – I’m always burning Voluspa Suede Blanc from Indigo.
Tray – I love using pretty little plates I’ve found for sale antiquing or at stores like Homesense to stash those everyday jewellery pieces that I leave on until bed. They also make a great spot to store moisturizer and lip balm, ensuring you always make the most of that beauty sleep – I’m addicted to using Josie Maran’s Infinity Cream and Burt’s Bees Coconut & Pear Lip Balm every morning and night!
Reading Material – Since ending your day with screen time hinders a restful sleep, a favourite magazine or book is key to resisting those PM Pinterest sessions; I scored this coffee table gem on sale at Indigo.
Carafe – Nobody likes leaving their warm and cozy bed because they’re thirsty, which is why a pretty carafe for water (my under $5 pick here) is a nightstand necessity.
Art/Photo – A piece of art that inspires you or a personal photo that makes you smile is the ideal way to start and finish your day. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I LOVE these $10 art pieces from Flourish Design and Style.
Flowers – Nothing is better than fresh blooms next to your head! Longer lasting and low maintenance options like a succulent or small cactus also add a little life (and a lot of style) to your bedside situation.
