Feminine Home Office Tour & Must-Haves

You might have caught my home tour over on Style Me Pretty Living (more on that here and here in case you missed it) last month. In the coming weeks, I’m sharing a closer look at each room’s decor and the essential pieces that made it all come together! I’m kicking things off with my feminine home office. Living in a house with 3 boys (the dog totally counts) means I pay extra special attention to adding a dose of girly detailing whenever I can. Since this work space is blogging central for me, I wanted to make it an inspiring spot to fuel creativity and get down to business. For me, that meant a desk that was uncluttered with only the prettiest necessities! As usual I opted for a bright white colour palette and added touches of black to keep things from being too precious. The boys have to live with it too, after all! Scroll through to read more about the 4 pieces I couldn’t live without in a home office and to shop my picks.

One. Pretty stationery is a must on my desk. For jotting down to-do lists, mapping out my schedule for the month, or sending off a quick thank you note; all of it would be far less enjoyable with basic pens and paper. I’m especially loving Target’s Sugar Paper LA line for affordable pieces that are professional but a little darling, too. (Bonus for us Canadian gals, Target is now shipping to Canada!)

Two.  A desk or floor lamp ill save you on those late work nights! I get most of my blogging done once Cohen goes down for the night, so an extra source of light is a no-brainer. It’s also a prime opportunity to inject some style into your work situation. I love this classic herringbone option, and this white and gold version of my task lamp.

Three. It goes without saying that flowers make everything better and keeping a small bunch around when I’m working always gives me a little extra motivation. For the most part, I pick up a dozen roses with each weekly grocery run. If Jordan’s treating me, he usually orders a bouquet from I&F Floral Design and each one is more beautiful than the last!

Four. A cozy rug underfoot is so key for late nights at the computer! I also keep a throw blanket nearby for cuddling up with coffee when I’m working, or having a marathon Pinterest session. I picked my rug up at Homesense, but I’ve been eyeing this vegan cowhide option from Lulu & Georgia for the next baby’s nursery.

  1. Hello,

I think one of the most important things to do when working from home is to keep to a schedule. It is really easy to sleep in when you don’t have to be at the office, but you will be more productive if you make yourself work. I personally prefer working in the morning to the afternoon. By afternoon it is nice enough that I want to be outside, and it makes it harder for me to concentrate. The point is, be disciplined. If you want to start work later, that is fine, but keep to your schedule or you won’t get much if anything done.
